Oh! The Wetness!

It is wet. Very wet. It started raining last night and only just recently let up. Sporadic rain is expected for the rest of the week.

This pretty much killed the big reenactment that was scheduled for this weekend. We already knew that we weren't going to be camping for this one. At best we'd be playing "Ramada Rangers" for attendance. A few emails were exchanged on Friday night, folks were worried. We got he word on Saturday that it was cancelled. Most of us had pretty much bagged the idea of going already, since flood warnings were in effect. But we held out hope for Sunday.

At around 9PM this evening, we got the word that the Sunday part of this event was cancelled.

Its a pity, the two planners of this event worked for some 18 months to get it all together. It promised to be a huge event. Then they had to watch it go down the drain (almost literally) as the first rain we've had in weeks decides to give us more than three hurricane remnants combined.

But you know, the image of white-water rafting Hessians is actually kinda cute. :-)

Oh well, there's always next year.

This was one of those rare 'big events'. They won't have it there next year. Heck, the British Brigade rarely has events south of the Arctic Circle, and when they do its in South Carolina or something.

Hrmmm...well, poop then. I'm sorry that mother nature very literally rained on the parade. :-(
